The Vigilante Tooth Fairy – B.B. Taylor, illustrated by James Shaw

Today it’s my stop on the blog tour for, ‘The Vigilante Tooth Fairy,’ a magical tale from BB Taylor, illustrated by James Shaw. Mouse is deemed too tiny to be a proper tooth fairy and instead acts as a messenger for the Council who rules over Tooth, the kingdom of the tooth fairies. One day Mouse accidentally overhears terrible news that the magic is dying in Tooth, because not enough children believe in tooth fairies anymore. Determined to find a way to save the day, Mouse breaks all the rules and sets off to find some much needed teeth but her plans go to array when she is accidentally seen by a little girl Faith. Together they need to try and reignite the magic in the world before it is too late.

BB has created a magical story that will totally delight younger readers. From the magic Tooth Fairy guide which leads fairies to the children whose teeth need to be collected, to the fairy dust which is guaranteed to get them out of any tricky situations, she has created a believable and enchanting world. In Mouse she has created a plucky character who doesn’t let tiny details get in the way of her plans to save her kingdom. She refuses to give up even when she is beset by difficulties on the way and everything seems lost. It will appeal to children who are desperate to believe even when those around them are starting to lose faith in what they cannot see. A tale of bravery, kindness and magic that highlights the transformative power of believing in yourself.
